The Sales Manager is tasked with developing a strategic growth plan in collaboration with the Director of Business Development.  They are responsible for managing the Sales personnel and training and supporting them to ensure their success.  These positions work very closely with internal operations to insure the highest quality of service provided to each client. They participate in weekly meetings to ensure the Sales personnel are meeting quota and maintaining their existing portfolio of business.  The Sales Manager is responsible in ensuring that the Sales personnel are identifying appropriate and profitable prospective clients.



Under direct supervision, and in accordance with Company policies, procedures and guidelines, this position: 

  • Establishes clearly defined department and individual goals and objectives and communicates these to associates through department meetings and performance planning.
  • Development and achievement of regional growth to plan.
  • Ensure Sales personnel achieve sales goals with appropriate new clients.
  • Maintain region’s existing base of business, and explores new ways to build the business
  • Comply with all policies and procedures of the company.
  • Follow up on a timely basis with all client and employee requests.
  • Perform financial assessments of existing and new accounts.
  • In-Service Sales personnel on new tests.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external employees.
    • Standardization of processes and workflows for efficient and optimized delivery of service that meets the customer expectations in cost effective manner
    • Leverage industry best practices and proven service delivery frameworks to get most effective results
    • Monitor staff performance, completes and conducts periodic evaluations, counsels and disciplines staff as necessary in accordance with human resource guidelines.
    • Maintain staff schedules, approves timesheets, approves and monitors PTO/vacations to ensure availability of staff necessary to effectively handle daily activities.
    • Regularly train team members and keep them updated on any new policies/procedures and other information.
    • Assist other departments as required.
    • Willingly share knowledge with others to effectively accomplish assigned tasks.
    • Adheres to confidentiality, safety, compliance, and legal requirements.
    • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance and complies with company guidelines on attendance.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Capabilities

  • Light to moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.)  Heavier weights with assistance.
  • Occasional pushing and pulling of objects.
  • Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
  • Must be able to hear, see, and respond adequately.
  • Frequent prolonged standing, walking, sitting, and bending over.
  • Use of hands and fingers.

Working Environment

  • Air conditioned laboratory environment.
  • Frequent exposure to video display terminals.
  • Occasional contact with water (hand washing and cleaning), biohazardous body fluids, and occasional hazardous chemicals.
  • Sufficient noise and interruptions to cause distraction.
  • Subject to long irregular working hours.
  • Handles emergency or crisis situations.

  • Strong facilitation and communication skills/experience especially in regards to meetings and joint development sessions with customers, end users, and project team members to develop requirements and design details

  • BA or BS, preferably in Business Management and or Marketing or Business
  • 3 to 5 years’ previous outside medical sales management  and or team management experience
  • Excellent communication skills to include oral comprehension/expression and written comprehension/expression.
  • Effective problem-solving and intervention skills.
  • Strong managerial competencies in the areas of leadership and team development, coaching and mentoring and situational assessment skills and with proven track record in building and developing high performing teams
  • Strong analytical skills and adept in interpreting strategic vision into an operational model.
  • Ability to align strategic goals around business plan
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft applications.
  • Knowledge of current sales market, and must possess the skill set to negotiate
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent and proven problem-solving and decision making skills
  • Passes company drug testing program pre-hire and thereafter on a periodic and or random basis.
